A single large enclosure and several smaller batteries can offer similar nominal energy but different handling, wiring and service requirements. Compare the whole installation rather than battery purchase price alone.
A battery may fit the available floor area but still be difficult to install or service. Include the access route, handling weight, cable space and maintenance clearance when checking the location.
A wide discharge-temperature range should not be read as permission to charge across that same range. For an unheated garage or seasonal site, the charging limit can be the decisive specification.
A cycle count without test conditions is an incomplete specification. To compare two batteries, ask what counts as a cycle and how much capacity remains at the end of the test.
State of charge is an estimate of remaining capacity, not a direct reading of stored kWh. A single terminal-voltage reading may not agree with the battery display, particularly while the system is charging or supplying a load.
The battery management system monitors and protects the battery. The inverter converts power and controls the energy flow between battery, loads and other sources. Reliable operation depends on their roles being coordinated.
A high peak-current figure can make a battery look more powerful than it is in normal operation. Compare continuous duty and short-duration duty separately, especially when a project includes motors or compressors.
A datasheet is most useful when read as a set of linked limits. The headline capacity describes only one part of the battery; operating conditions and test definitions determine what the numbers mean for a project.
Amp-hours become meaningful when the voltage is known. Within a 51.2 V family, 100 Ah, 200 Ah and 300 Ah correspond to 5.12, 10.24 and 15.36 kWh nominal energy.
